Events & Monthly Meetings

Henry Shaw Cactus and Succulent Society normally holds monthly meetings on Sundays throughout the year. A club picnic is scheduled in September, while the December meeting is a holiday party.

Next Meeting – October 9, 2022

PhotoProgram: Overwintering Plants

The October program will address the overwintering of our plants and their care through the dreaded winter months. We’ll discuss temperature, lighting and watering to help ensure our plants once again see the next outdoor growing season. Visitors welcome! (Click for more details.)

Learn, Share … Win!

Meetings typically feature guest speakers or other varied programs of interest to succulent hobbyists. Hands-on workshops may focus on pruning, potting or dividing plants. Members are encouraged to bring in plants to show off and share their cultivation secrets. Books from the club’s library can be requested for pick up – and don’t forget the attendance prizes!

Henry Shaw Cactus and Succulent Society’s main event is its Annual Show and Sale. Historically held each summer at Missouri Botanical Garden in St. Louis, it will take place at Glaziers Hall this year. At this multiday fund-raising event, member exhibitors bring their best specimens for judging and display. Popular vendors supply thousands of starter and specimen plants for sale, too.
