2023 – Gone to Seed

Photos by Jolie Krupnik

Our plants can teach us valuable lessons. My Adenium obesum taught me patience. The plant didn’t initially bloom in my care. But after several years, the entire plant bloomed. The flowers continued late into the summer.

While some flowers withered in early fall, a pair of seedpods measuring 5.5 inches long at maturity developed on one of the branches. I brought the plant inside in early October, and three months later, what a wonderful sight! Fluffy seeds everywhere. I’m sorry I missed the seedpods bursting open, but glad I had the patience to let them open on their own time. Seeds anyone?
