New Aloe Hybrid: Aloe ‘Bokeh’

By Hammy Sorkin – When I noticed two separate Aloe hybrids blooming at the same time in late 2021, I got a botanically perverted idea. With a sterilized paintbrush, I took pollen from the flowers of one and transferred it onto stigmas of the other. The resulting plant was named “Bokeh” after the photography technique of using a blurred background. The plant displays unique characteristics for aloes. …

Show Entry Easier for 2023

Several changes have made entering HSCSS’ Annual Show more straightforward and balanced. To simplify entry, most specimen plant categories are based on geographic region rather than plant family. Except where noted, each member may have up to two entries per class. To encourage greater participation, classes are broken into Novice and Advanced categories to allow entrants to compete with their peers. …
