Things to Do – August
By Barbara Rengers
Certain activities regarding growing plants and other aspects of the succulent hobby tend to recur at about the same time every year. Here are some reminders for things to address in August.
- Shading is no longer needed for sun-loving genera, but don’t keep leafy or shade-loving varieties in full sun.
- Last month to fertilize.
- Propagation by cuttings is still possible during this month.
- Different day and night temperatures will help plants harden off.
- Spider mites are a threat this time of year. Overhead spraying is a deterrent.
