Things to Do – March
By Barbara Rengers
Certain activities regarding growing plants and other aspects of the succulent hobby tend to recur at about the same time every year. Here are some reminders for things to address in March.
- Most of the leafy succulents need more water.
- Large epiphytic cacti require more water and should be fertilized.
- Use a soft paintbrush to remove winter’s dust or spray off. Do this so the plants are dried off by nighttime. Otherwise, rot and fungus may develop.
- Plants need more light and moisture, weather permitting. If they have overwintered in dark quarters, give more light if possible.
- First flowers on globular cacti can be expected this month.
- Don’t forget the HSCSS show – save boxes.
